Our K-12 students are either inpatients of Wollongong Hospital or outpatients receiving ongoing treatment and as such take part in our Day Student Program.
Ensuring the wellbeing of our students thoughout their stay is important to us. The students physical, emotional, psychological and social needs are always taken into account when planning and implementing Personal Learning Plans.
The school staff consults with and works alongside the student's medical team so that any medical implications can be taken into account when developing educational programs.
Our staff believe that working closely with parents and family members and encouraging them to be active participants in their child's learning program will benefit all.
When students are admitted for an extended period of time our staff liaise with the student's home school to ensure that the learning program developed is consistent with and supports the home school program. This liaison also supports the student when transitioning back to their home school.
Students take part in activities in the school room or by their bedside on the ward depending on their needs. Beds are also able to be moved to the schoolroom.
